Solutions Engineer Intern

Fermyon Technologies is a software company building the next wave of cloud computing based on WebAssembly. By producing top-quality open source software and related tooling, we are creating a new category of cloud computing that prioritizes high performance, robust security, and top-notch developer and operator experiences. We contribute heavily to the WebAssembly ecosystem, including Spin, now a CNCF sandbox project, and we build commercial products like Fermyon Wasm Functions and Fermyon Platform For Kubernetes.

We believe that the best way to build this next generation of cloud technology is by fostering a positive culture rooted in our values.

Fermyon is committed to a culture of belonging, inclusivity, and respect. We believe that different perspectives—shaped by life experiences, education, talent, and interests—are essential for creating thriving teams. We welcome the unique contributions you bring in terms of your culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, spoken languages, veteran status, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, opinions, political preferences, and overall beliefs. If you’re someone who values people and embraces differences, Fermyon is the place for you!

The position

We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer Intern who’s excited to help developers understand and succeed with WebAssembly by building hands-on demos, small integrations, and other technical content. You’ll collaborate with our Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to explore customer needs and prototype solutions using Fermyon’s products and CNCF-backed open source technologies like Spin.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building, learning, and communicating—whether you’re experimenting with the local developer experience, documenting a customer use case, or creating a sample that highlights a core platform feature.

This is a full-time paid internship ($25/hr), expected to last approximately 3 months during Summer 2025. Exact dates are negotiable.

Responsibilities

These are all the things we are thinking about. We’re looking for someone who can help us prioritize and do things the right way in the right time frame.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to create demos, sample applications, and integrations that solve real-world problems or showcase important use cases
  • Collaborate with customer-facing teams to turn common challenges into reusable technical solutions, templates, and proof-of-concept projects
  • Write clear, approachable documentation, guides, or blog posts that explain your work and help others reproduce it
  • Provide feedback on tooling, developer workflows, and areas where the user experience can be improved

Personal Qualities We Appreciate

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, logical thinker, organized and structured working style, articulate, with a commitment to high-quality service delivery and attention to detail, dependable, strong work ethic, positive attitude, inclusive approach, team player and customer-oriented

Requirements

  • Prior WebAssembly experience is helpful but not required
  • Experience brainstorming, selecting, creating, and producing customer-oriented solutions
  • Experience creating solutions from the ground up, in a new technical area, leveraging subject matter experts
  • Agreement to embody the Fermyon values
  • Fluent English speaker

Bonus points for

  • Previous work with WebAssembly or cloud-native tooling (e.g. Kubernetes, containers, serverless platforms)
  • Experience writing technical content, giving talks, or publishing open source examples
  • Interest in developer enablement, DevRel, or technical pre-sales
